2023 and meme-oir (To be continued...)

My dearest sunflower

How are you? How has the new year been treating you?  I wish for the best of health, strength, wisdom and enrichment this year. Its been a week into the New Year, I have already tapped out. Just kidding. I don’t think the last year ended. It feels like its still dragging on, maybe its just me.

I have embraced this year and all its endless possibility with a hint of cynicism and a lot of tea. I have decided to focus more on the reality of things, rather than hoping on the bigger picture. While I do agree the need to focus on the bigger picture as whole, I have come to enjoy the smaller, more mundane things in life. 2023 has introduced me to some really fascinating and beautiful souls, and I have decided to enrich myself by basking in their presence and feeling the love, pulling in all that knowledge and just honestly enjoying the vibes.

2023 was the year where my friends and I grew close and also apart, we spent every moment, memorizing the jokes, the small details, conquering new lands and expanding our horizons.

2023 was the year where I got into my first job. I made new friends, a different environment, but I loved every moment of working, learning, making mistakes, growing, falling, tripping and laughing till my face hurt.

2023 was the year where I was humbled, hard. Met new people, burned new bridges, built better ones and I learnt that falling down is the best thing that can happen to you. Getting too comfortable on the pedestal is not a good thing.

2023 was the year where I expanded my horizons personally, changed my writing, started prioritizing myself, failed miserably, made more jokes, and truly enjoyed pani puri. As a close friend of mine once said

“There is absolutely nothing a little pani puri and ice cream can’t fix” and I stand by it.

2023 was the year where I survived for a week without my glasses, that was scary.

2023 was the year where I learnt not everything is perfect. Satisfaction is key, broken things can be mended and a stitch in time saves nine.

I also met you in 2023 Sunshine. Safe to say it has been awesome and you inspire me everyday, my admiration for you grows with the waxing and waning of the moon and I cannot wait to squish your face and ramble stories to you. I also want to stick feathers up your nose and see how hard you sneeze (weird I know). I really hope your 2023 was amazing, do tell me about it, and also about your hopes for 2024!

Till then,

With love and warmth

Jess.
